India Mission

A Gift of Love for A Future

India is an ancient civilization and a major global power in both population and economy. Although the gospel reached India as early as the first century, Christians today comprise only 2.3% of the nation's population. According to the Joshua Project, over 1,800 ethnic groups, accounting for 87.6% of the Indian population, are classified as unreached people groups, living in environments with little to no opportunity to hear the gospel.

Indian society and culture are deeply entrenched in the caste system. For over three thousand years, the lowest caste (Sudras) and the untouchables (Dalits), who fall outside the caste system, have comprised the majority of India's population. Yet, they have been relegated to the lowest level of society, enduring lifelong discrimination, exploitation, and oppression while being forced to live in extreme poverty. They are, however, made in the image of God and are as precious and worthy as anyone else. The Church must bring them the gospel of Jesus Christ, for He gave His life on the cross for their sins as well. Christ longed to set them free from the oppression of this broken world and bring them into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

CCCM first sensed God's calling to missions in India during the outbreak of COVID-19 in India in 2021, and launched its first mission trip in 2022. They were led by God into a partnership with JS Ministry, an indigenous church-planting movement in central India. Founded by a local pastor in the late 1970s, this ministry has established around 300 rural churches among marginalized communities as of 2023. Although most of these churches are still young and fragile, and their pastors have received minimal training, they are deeply committed to serving the unprivileged, including trafficked women and their children as well as lepers and their families. JS Ministry places special emphasis on leading children to Christ, discipling them as followers of Jesus, and supporting their education so they may grow into future leaders for God's kingdom. With very limited funding, they have established nine after-school learning centers where teachers provide spiritual and academic enrichment to 176 children aged 5-15, covering education costs for 76 of them.

In view of the beautiful works God is doing in India through the JS Ministry and recognizing the strategic value of this mission, CCCM took its first step in 2022 by sending a five-member short-term mission team to India. They conducted pastoral training and a children camp, which led to a growing conviction to focus on these two areas as key entry points for mobilizing churches to support the church-planting movement. Practical approaches include launching the "A Gift of Love for A Future" sponsorship program, which supports the formal education of Indian children from poor families and strengthens local after-school learning centers. Additionally, CCCM aims to regularly organize short-term mission teams to India for pastoral training and children camps. Over time, the goal is to assist churches with a heart for India in establishing church-adopt-church relationships with local Indian churches, fostering a church-based mission movement in India.

With God's help, the first phase of pledges for the "A Gift of Love for A Future" sponsorship program was officially launched in 2024 for a one-year period. In August of the same year, a seven-member mission team from CCCM--including three pastors and four children ministry workers-- traveled to India once again to conduct pastoral training and a children camp. Churches and believers are warmly invited to participate in the "A Gift of Love for A Future" sponsorship program to support and empower Indian children, strengthen Indian pastors, and help grow the Indian church. Pastors and believers are also encouraged to join CCCM's short-term mission trips to India, to explore the mission field, engage in pastoral training, and serve in children ministries.
